 +==== Step-by-Step Instructions ====
 +
 +>1. Plug the **license dongle** into a free USB-A port on your computer. Skip this step if you want to use **cloud licensing** instead.
 +
 +>2. Start **Visiometa** by clicking on the desktop icon or the corresponding entry in the start menu.
 +
 +>3. When the software is started for the very first time, the user will be warned that no **license provider registry file** has been found. Confirm the warning and continue.
 +
 +>4. The **license provider dialog** opens and shows the user a list of the licensing methods that have already been registered on this computer.
 +
 +>5. To register a new license provider, click //**Add Dongle**// or //**Add Uplink**// depending on your preferred licensing method.
 +
 +>6. Alternatively, an **existing registry file** with the name ''LicenseProviders.dat'' can be copied from another system and placed in the ''\Documents\Visiometa\Common\'' directory. This can speed up the deployment process for networks with many computers.
 +
 +>7. License dongles are registered by entering a **device ID** and a **device passcode** that you have received from your sales contact. Simply click on the respective key symbol. The text field at the top is used to enter an **optional description** to make it easier for the user to identify the device.
 +
 +>8. Both codes are 32-digit **hexadecimal numbers** and can be entered either manually or by copy and paste.
 +
 +>9. Uplinks store the **network address** and **user credentials** for accessing a license server. Host address and port number depend on your geographical location.
 +
 +>10. **User accounts** can be created by both the license holder themselves and your sales contact. In case of doubt, please contact our support team.
 +
 +>11. Your **dongle and uplink information** can be edited later at any time by selecting the corresponding entry in the license provider dialog and clicking the //**Edit**// button.
 +
 +>12. After **adding or editing** an entry or following a manual change to the registration file, please click on //**Refresh**// to update the license provider dialog.
 +
 +>13. Check whether the license provider of your choice shows a small **green tick**. If this is not the case, you will need to search for incorrect settings or skip ahead to the **troubleshooting** section.
 +
 +>14. You can now **mark the checkbox** in the corresponding row and confirm the dialog with the //**Ok**// button.
 +
 +\\
 +==== Dongle License Renewal ====
 +
 +License dongles are only ever programmed for a **limited period of validity** to protect the customer against loss.
 +
 +However, the period of validity can be easily extended with a **renewal code**, that can be received by the user via e-mail or any other written means of communication.
 +
 +For this purpose, click on //**Request Code**// and send the displayed info to <support@visiometa.com> - We will promptly check the validity of your license and send the corresponding renewal code to your contact address.
