Visiometa uses the most modern graphics technology available to achieve the best possible visual quality and rendering performance. This entails making intensive use of your computer's graphics hardware. The most important piece of graphics hardware is the graphics adapter, which is the device that renders out all images and sends them to a display. There are two types of graphics adapters: integrated and dedicated.

• An integrated graphics adapter, usually by Intel to use in their computers, is bound to the motherboard and shares resources with the CPU, which is undesirable for running programs and applications that have high demands on the graphics performance, such as Visiometa.
• A dedicated graphics card has its own memory and processor for generating its images, and does not slow down the computer. They also have higher performance than integrated graphics adapters.

To optimize battery life, many laptop computers contain an integrated graphics adapter along with a faster dedicated graphics card for more demanding graphical tasks. When working with Visiometa (or any other graphically intense application for that matter), the switching of the graphics adapter in the middle of operation can lead to display and performance issues or even program crashes. Additionally, by default, the system may load the software with the low-end video option and does not switch to the high-performance GPU.

Configuring the system to always use the dedicated graphics card for the software will avoid these issues. Unfortunately this has to be done by the users themselves. Also, the specific configuration process depends on the manufacturer of your graphics hardware.

The most widely used graphics cards are currently manufactured by either AMD or NVIDIA. We assume that your hardware is no exception. To keep it as short as possible, this quick guide only focuses on graphics cards from the NVIDIA Geforce and AMD Radeon product families. You only need to read the section of this document that is relevant to your computer.

Please follow the steps below to configure your system to use your dedicated NVIDIA Geforce graphics card. Please note that all graphics card manufacturers regularly update their driver software. Therefore, some details of the configuration process may change in the future.

Step 1 - Update to the latest video driver (see https://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx).

Step 2 - Right-click the desktop and choose NVIDIA Control Panel.

Step 3 - Click Manage 3D Settings on the left and then choose the Global Settings tab if you want to your configuration to affect all applications. If you want to change the settings for Visiometa only, then click on the Program Settings tab and choose Visiometa.View.exe either from the drop-down menu or by browsing the installation folder.

Step 4 - Select the High-performance NVIDIA processor as the preferred graphics processor and click Apply (you might need to scroll down the window to see this button). Your system is now configured to use your dedicated graphics card for Visiometa.

Please follow the steps below to configure your system to use your dedicated MD Radeon graphics card. Please note that all graphics card manufacturers regularly update their driver software. Therefore, some details of the configuration process may change in the future.

Step 1 - Update to the latest video driver (see https://www.amd.com/en/support).

Step 2 - Right-click the desktop and choose AMD Radeon Software.

Step 3 - Navigate to Gaming → Games. A list of 3d games and applications that are currently installed and detected will be displayed. Each title listed will have its own associated profile.

Step 4 - To manually add Visiometa, click on the three dots on the right and then choose Add a Game. Navigate to the folder where the executable is located (e.g. C:\Visiometa\Components) and double-click on Visiometa.View.exe to add it to the list. Your system is now configured to use your dedicated graphics card for Visiometa.
