Visiometa uses the most modern graphics technology available to achieve the best possible visual quality and rendering performance. This entails making intensive use of your computer's graphics hardware. The most important piece of graphics hardware is the graphics adapter, which is the device that renders out all images and sends them to a display. There are two types of graphics adapters: integrated and dedicated.
To optimize battery life, many laptop computers contain an integrated graphics adapter along with a faster dedicated graphics card for more demanding graphical tasks.
When working with Visiometa (or any other graphically intense application for that matter), the switching of the graphics adapter in the middle of operation can lead to display and performance issues or even program crashes. Additionally, by default, the system may load the software with the low-end video option and does not switch to the high-performance GPU.
Configuring the system to always use the dedicated graphics card for the software will avoid these issues. Unfortunately this has to be done by the users themselves. Also, the specific configuration process depends on the manufacturer of your graphics hardware.
The most widely used graphics cards are currently manufactured by either AMD or NVIDIA. We assume that your hardware is no exception. To keep it as short as possible, this quick guide only focuses on graphics cards from the NVIDIA Geforce and AMD Radeon product families. You only need to read the section of this document that is relevant to your computer.
Please note that all graphics card manufacturers regularly update their driver software. Therefore, some details of the configuration process may change in the future.
